KB is once again in the headlines with the debut of their microgrid communities, Durango and Oak Shade, in Menifee, California.

ARCXIS has partnered with KB for 10+ years, recommending energy efficient features and providing design optimization, energy modeling, rating services, and training to ensure KB meets the DOE's stringent Zero Energy Ready Home criteria (which includes ENERGY STAR, WaterSense, and Indoor airPLUS). ARCXIS also provides mechanical engineering services and third party quality assurance inspections to KB, helping them build the very best homes possible.

All 219 microgrid homes are equipped with solar, a backup battery, and community microgrid connectivity, providing a self-contained power system that can operate independently if the grid fails.
