The 2026 Florida Building Code is currently scheduled to take effect on December 31, 2026. Homes using the performance compliance method must achieve an Energy Ratio (e-Ratio) of 0.85, a significant increase in stringency from the previous code. The duct testing exception has also been removed (builders can no longer bypass physical duct leakage testing) for most performance projects, adding another critical step to the compliance process.
