HERS Carbon Index: A New Way to Measure Home Performance

What if your home’s performance could be measured in more than energy savings?

The new HERS Carbon Index® from RESNET gives builders another way to evaluate and communicate the environmental performance of their homes. The index measures a home’s greenhouse gas emissions in CO₂e and considers not only how much energy a home uses, but when that energy is consumed.

For builders, this creates an opportunity to look beyond the traditional HERS Index and better understand how design and efficiency strategies can impact a home’s carbon footprint. Because the Carbon Index can be calculated using data already collected during the HERS Rating process, there’s no need for additional inspections or testing.

As sustainability continues to influence building programs, incentives and homebuyer expectations, the HERS Carbon Index can give builders another valuable metric to demonstrate the performance of their homes.

ARCXIS can help you put the data to work.
